Welcome to our cot mattress range. We have been making baby mattresses for over 25 years, always with the same simple promise: to make our baby mattresses of the highest possible quality. We never use fibre or basic foams-only the highest quality materials that are genuinely safe, firm, supportive, comfortable and durable.
Our mattresses offer real breathability and temperature control. Every one is truly waterproof (not just water resistant) so little accidents don't turn into big problems. We're so confident in what we make that every mattress is guaranteed for five years.
Choosing the Right Cot Mattress
When selecting a cot mattress, you need to consider the core material and the cover system. We offer two types of mattress base:
- Foam with Springs - High-density 41/150 foam with pocket springs provides exceptional durability. The foam prevents dips and dents even under the weight and activity of a growing child, while pocket springs offer independent movement and balanced support.
- Coconut Coir with Wool - A completely natural option using coir bonded with natural latex, topped with luxury wool. This chemical-free construction offers excellent breathability and is naturally resistant to dust mites, mould and allergens.
The EasyChange™ Cover System
Keeping your baby's mattress clean and hygienic is essential. However, using a traditional waterproof cover means your baby ends up sleeping on a surface that doesn't breathe, trapping heat and moisture against their skin.
That's why we created The EasyChange™-a unique two-layer baby mattress cover system designed to protect the mattress core while offering full breathability, temperature control, comfort and hygiene.
The system includes two Coolmax & Maxispace zip-on toppers, so when accidents happen (and they will!), you simply zip off the soiled topper and replace it with the spare clean one. The toppers and base cover are washable at 60°C.
Edge Support & Safety
All our cot mattresses feature a firm perimeter that prevents tiny feet from slipping down the edge when your baby grabs the rails and bounces up and down. Come on, they all do it!
When Do You Need a Cot Mattress?
Most babies transition to a cot between 4 and 6 months old, once they've outgrown their Moses basket or crib. You'll know it's time when your baby starts looking cramped, can roll over independently, or is simply too long for their current sleeping space. Some parents choose to use a cot from birth-our mattresses are designed to be firm and supportive for newborns right through to toddlers.
Your baby will typically use a cot until around 2-3 years old, when they're ready to move to a toddler or single bed. That's potentially thousands of nights of sleep, which is why investing in a quality mattress makes such a difference.
How to Measure for a Cot Mattress
Getting the right size mattress is essential for safety. Gaps between the mattress and cot frame can pose a risk to little fingers and limbs. Here's how to measure correctly:
- Measure the internal dimensions of your cot base, not the external frame. Measure length and width at the base where the mattress will sit.
- Measure in centimetres for accuracy. Round down to the nearest centimetre if you're between sizes.
- Check for standard sizes first. Common UK cot sizes include 120 x 60cm and 140 x 70cm. We also offer sizes for older cots such as 117 x 54cm, 127 x 63cm, 130 x 70cm and 132 x 77cm.
- The gap test: When your mattress is in place, you shouldn't be able to fit more than two fingers between the mattress edge and the cot frame.
If your cot has an unusual size, please contact us-we can often accommodate custom dimensions.
What to Look for When Buying a Cot Mattress
With so many options on the market, it can be difficult to know what really matters. Here's what we believe you should prioritise:
- Firmness - A firm mattress is essential for safe infant sleep. Avoid mattresses that feel soft or that dip when you press on them. Our foam with pocket springs and coconut coir options are designed to provide consistent, firm support.
- Quality materials - Steer clear of fibre-filled or basic foam mattresses. Look for high-density foam (we use 41/150 density) or natural materials like coconut coir bonded with latex. These materials maintain their structure and firmness over years of use.
- Breathability - Babies can't regulate their temperature as well as adults. A breathable mattress helps prevent overheating. Our Coolmax & Maxispace covers actively wick moisture and allow airflow, while natural coir and wool are inherently breathable.
- Waterproof protection - Accidents are inevitable. Choose a mattress with genuine waterproof protection (not just water-resistant), but ensure it doesn't compromise breathability. Our cover systems protect the mattress core while maintaining airflow on the sleep surface.
- Edge support - Once your baby starts pulling up on the cot rails, a firm perimeter prevents feet from slipping down gaps. All our cot mattresses include reinforced edges.
- Washability - Being able to wash covers at 60°C is important for hygiene, as this temperature kills dust mites and bacteria.
- Spring systems - If you opt for springs, pocket springs offer independent movement and better support than open coil systems. Our foam with pocket springs and foam with foam springs options both provide this benefit.
